Gameplay Guide

Welcome to the official gameplay guide for Train Your Foes. This document explains the objectives, controls, and mechanics you'll need to master to conquer the game.

The game is split into two distinct parts: 1. Platforming Levels (1-4): Fast-paced action levels to test your reflexes. 2. The Final Boss (Level 5): A strategic, turn-based battle against an adaptive AI.


Part 1: Platforming Levels (Levels 1-4)

The first four levels are classic 2D action-platformers.

Objective

Your goal in each of these levels is twofold: 1. Defeat all enemies scattered throughout the stage. 2. Once all enemies are cleared, reach the exit door at the end of the level to proceed.

Controls

The controls are designed for responsive movement and combat.

Key / Action Function
A / D Keys Move the player left or right.
Space Bar Perform a jump.
Right Mouse Click Execute a standard attack.

On-Screen Display (HUD)

The user interface is kept minimal to focus on the action. The most important element is your Health Bar, which shows your current health.

Enemies

You will face three types of pre-scripted enemies in these levels. Learn their patterns to defeat them effectively. * Lazer Aunt * Skeleton * Flying Skull


Part 2: The Final Boss (Level 5 - Turn-Based Battle)

The final level shifts to a strategic, turn-based combat system where you will face the AI-powered boss.

Objective

Your goal is to reduce the boss's health to zero before it defeats you. This requires careful planning and strategic use of your abilities.

The Combat Screen

The battle takes place on a dedicated combat screen with all the information you need to make tactical decisions.

Key Mechanics

  • Health Bars: Both you and the boss have clearly visible health bars.
  • Aura Meter: On the left side of the screen is your Aura Meter. This is your primary resource for executing special attacks and healing. Manage it wisely to ensure you have enough power when you need it most.
  • Action Menu: At the bottom of the screen, you will find four actions to choose from on your turn.

Player Abilities

You have four core abilities at your disposal.

Ability Description
FIGHT A standard, reliable attack. This is your main way of dealing consistent damage to the boss.
S.ATTACK A powerful Special Attack that consumes a large amount of your Aura Meter for massive damage.
DEFEND Take a defensive stance for one turn, significantly reducing the damage you take from the boss's next move.
MANA HEAL Channel your energy to restore a portion of your health. This ability likely consumes from the Aura Meter.

Winning and Losing

  • If Your Health Reaches Zero: At any point in the game, if your health drops to zero, you will restart the current level from the beginning.
  • After Defeating the Final Boss: Once you successfully defeat the boss, you have won the game! You will be shown a final victory screen to celebrate your achievement.
